no, I'm looking forward to it. I was a Wigan fan I'm the days of Hanley, Gill & the Iro brothers and also went to a world cup final at Wembley in the 90s

Well, the players who "defected" from NZ to Tonga:
Jason Taumalolo - born in Auckland
Manu Ma'u - born in Auckland
David Fusitua - born in Auckland
Sio Siua Taukeiaho - born in Auckland
Andrew Fifita - born in Australia
In fact, out of their entire 24 man squad for the WC, only 4 players were actually born in Tonga:
Konrad Hurrell
Solomone Kata
Sam Moa
Ukuma Ta'ai
You're often looking at similar numbers in rugby for Tonga and Samoa, of players born in Australia, or most often NZ.
So, when you look at the claims made against NZ for poaching Pacific Island rugby players, it's actually ridiculous to try to portray NZ as the big baddies, when far, far more NZ-born players play for other countries, than foreign-born players play for NZ.
In both codes.

Is it true that far more Tongans and Samoans (for example)play for Tonga and Samoa in rugby league compared to union where all sorts seem to pitch up for the bigger nations?
Perhaps rugby union could learn from that

I did have to laugh when I read Taumalolo saying he's not sure if he'll play for Tonga again.
You shouldn't get to pick and choose who you play for.
That sort of attitude and the fact that he can pretty much chop and change tournament by tournament shows that rugby league still has a very VERY long way to go to be a proper international sport.

It was disallowed for the knock on, but if the ref had seen it as the England player having raked it, he could have given the try or reviewed it. I thought he dropped it when the tackler grabbed his arm.
Hopefully the island nations get to play more of these games against the tier 1 countries. It would be good to have a more competitive international scene.

Well the Tongans are doing their best to ruin the goodwill they built up over the tournament by protesting in the central city for the second night in a row.
Of course they smashed up their local area while fighting with each other and the Samoans earlier in the tournament too, and now this.
Fairly typical behaviour for the Polynesians in league circles.

Not sure what the fuss is about really.
Even if they had reviewed it, it would have been the same result of no try, as it was a knock on.
Even I could see it and I'm not exactly clued up on the rules of Rugby League.
Fantastic bloody game though and the noise the Tongan's made was quite outstanding and maybe the best atmosphere I'd ever seen for any sport on TV. Was like the Ipswich play off.

Agreed, but the correct outcome was "no try".
The defender grabbed at his arm, and may even got a touch on the ball, but the impetus to send it toward the try line came from Fifita.

Would love to be proved wrong but I expect us to get beaten by 20+ points on Saturday.
We've given the ball away far too easily up to now and the Aussies will take full advantage.
